Engaging educators today with a vision for 2020

At HealthPartners, we’re committed to improving health and well-being  in partnership with our members, patients, and the community. To be partners in exceptional healthcare and to fulfill our commitment, we have a unique opportunity to effectively and efficiently train the clinicians of tomorrow within an educational model built upon the Triple Aim of patient care – experience, affordability, and health.

The Office of Health Professional Education is supporting this partnership by co-creating the graduate education system of the future. We’re engaging the clinical education community through discussion, and by nurturing connections. We believe the Twin Cities is poised to take a leadership position in this approach. To tap into this experience and passion, we hosted our second Clinician Educator Community of Practice event in April at the Bakken Museum in Minneapolis, MN.

Almost 100 people participated in the event to discuss and collaborate on two challenging topics – “What does the healthcare team of the future look like?” and “What does practice-ready mean?” We captured discussions from the event to further reflect on and share with our community. In the next few weeks, we will revisit the discussions, and share some insight along with videos.

In this introduction video, Felix Ankel, MD, VP and Executive Director, Health Professional Education, discusses the past, present and future of medical education during the 2016 Community of Practice event.
